If you haven’t already bought Apple’s latest iPhone, the iPhone 7, then you might still be a little indecisive as to which one you want to get. Of course there are a choice of colours but a size and feature-difference too. In this blog, I offer you a quick summary of the two to help you make your decision and finally get this amazing smartphone right in the palm of your hand.
iPhone 7 / 7 Plus – Jet Black VS Black
Now, choosing a colour can be tough but it doesn’t help when Apple scrap Space Grey for two versions of Black. Talk about a tough choice. Well, it was for a short while anyway. When Apple announced the iPhone 7, I instantly fell in love with Jet Black, like most people. Fingerprint magnet and easy to scratch was how a lot of tech bloggers out there described it. Ok, that was a little off-putting but the front of most phones attract fingerprints. So, you might cover it with a case, at least to begin with but it’s a good choice to make because it looks so good. If you’re anything like me, you’ll soldier through with keeping it clean, without a case, because cases ruin the feel of a phone. Do you agree?
A few days ago, I visited the Apple Store and saw both Blacks in person. The Black was nice but I found it a little dull. The Jet Black, however, was beautiful. It was covered in fingerprints but just think how many thousands of people got their fingers all over it. You can easily get a Matt skin or case, if you want that look temporarily but, ultimately I feel like the Jet Black will be much more satisfying in the long run.
Pictures don’t show it’s true colour but I took a photo of both, unedited and unfiltered. Jet Black catches the eye much more than Black but you probably want the Black. If that’s the case then that’s perfectly fine, get what you fancy. I just hope this blog helps you make your decision.
The bigger the better?
Now that the colour has been decided (hopefully), it’s time to think about the size you want to go for.
The iPhone 7 has a 4.7″ display whilst the iPhone 7 Plus has a 5.5″ display. That’s quite a significant difference but you’ve got to think about what would be more comfortable for you. The 7 plus is quite big and texting one-handed will be quite difficult for most but it does fit in the pocket, despite what you’ve read. I’ve had the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in the front pocket of my skinny jeans and that is slightly bigger than the 7 plus at 5.7″. Of course, the smaller iPhone 7 is much more easier to use one-handed, so you don’t have to be too careful whilst walking and texting.
On the more interesting side of things, the 7 Plus is the better phone, in terms of features. It is the first ever iPhone to be blessed with a dual camera and, from what I’ve seen, it’s amazing! This alone has resulted in the 7 Plus outselling the 7. But, if you’re not too fussed on the camera then I’d recommend you save yourself some cash and get the iPhone 7.
See below for an overview of the difference between the two models:
- Single 12 Megapixel camera
- 4.7″ Display
- 1334 x 750 pixel resolution
- 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1mm
iPhone 7 Plus
- Dual Camera (2 x 12 Megapixel camera)
- 5.5″ Display
- Full HD resolution
- 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3mm
- Bigger battery
If you’ve already preordered (like I’ve done and still waiting for the delivery) then which one did you go for?
I hope the above helps.
