Around 2 billion of users in the world own a smartphone and what do all smartphones have? Cameras, and we like to utilise them in every possible way. But you don’t take a photo to just keep it stored in your camera roll, you share it. That’s what Facebook and Instagram are for. But in September 2011 Snapchat was launched and since has 150 million daily users, beating Twitter (which has been around since 2006 by the way).
Popularity boost? Definitely. Snapchat has taken taking pictures to a whole new level. It allows you to filter your photos, draw on them, add text and send short videos that can only be viewed for 1-10 seconds, depending on the time you choose. Snapchat also allows you to do a face swap, which is ridiculously hilarious, it lets you transform yourself into a dog, make yourself look 30 years older and much more. Read on to learn some of these tricks we’ve come across. You can also watch the video to see these tricks in action.
Use two filters on Snapchat at the same time
Filters can enhance your photo or video but sometimes you need to display the time or the temperature. You know, for one of those holiday snaps where it’s around 40 degrees and your friends and family are in England, where it’s cold and raining. Yeah, one of those. But as it stands you’ve got to compromise; it’s either the geofilter or the image filter, right? Wrong.
Step 1. Apply your photo filter as normal
Step 2. Now keep one finger pressed on the screen, with another swipe across to the geofilter that you want.
Step 3. There is no step 3 😉
Use black or white for your drawings
If you draw a lot on Snapchat, you’ll notice there is no option to use black or white or is there? Indeed, there is. To add white, tap the pencil icon then scroll upwards to the top of the colour bar and then, without letting go, swipe to the left and you’ve got white. Hooray. For black, just swipe all the way down.
Make emojis massive
Sometimes you want to express how you feel with an emoji but why not make it a massive one? Simply add an emoji using the far-left icon at the top. Then, using two fingers, stretch out the emoji to make it bigger or bring your fingers closer together to zoom out and make the emoji smaller. You can add as many as you want by the way.
Oh and if you make the emoji big enough, you can even use it as a coloured filter. Check out the video to see what it looks like.
Save data by turning on Travel Mode.
This one isn’t a trick but it’s worth sharing. You may find that Snapchat is eating up a lot of your data. If that’s the case, then I would suggest turning on Travel Mode. This just means Snapchat stories will not automatically download, so if you want to view one you’ll need to tap on it to download it manually.
Try out the above to enhance your Snapchat experience. If you loved it before, you’re going to love it even more. Don’t forget to share these cools tricks with your fellow Snapchatters 🙂
